The No-Scalpel Vasectomy
(NSV)
In a "traditional vasectomy" a small incision
is made in each side of the scrotum and each vas is blocked by cutting
and cauterizing it. The incisions are then closed with stitches. The new
"no-scalpel vasectomy" is simpler, safer and less invasive. This new technique
requires a smaller opening in the median raphe caused by a puncture that
is so small it requires no stitches to close. Using special equipment,
both the left and the right vas can be reached from this single opening.
This procedure entails only local anasthesia that patients have described
as a small mosquito bite.
